What is PPF (Paint Protection Film)?

What's the difference between PPF and Ceramic Coating?

PPF is a physical film, around 200 microns thick, that absorbs impact and self-heals minor scratches. Ceramic Coating is a chemical layer, micro-thin, that bonds to the paint and gives a hydrophobic, easy-clean finish. PPF protects against damage; Ceramic protects against dirt, chemicals, and water spots. They work brilliantly together, and on every PPF job we install Ceramic Pro on top. Included in the price.

Where are you based and what areas do you cover?

Our studio is in Sintra, in Núcleo Empresarial da Abrunheira. We serve clients across the Lisbon metropolitan area, including Lisbon, Cascais, Estoril, Oeiras and Sintra, plus the rest of Portugal by appointment. Marine work travels to wherever the boat is in dry dock.

A KAVACA Front Kit takes about a day. A Full Car PPF runs 3 to 4 days. Ceramic Coating on its own is typically a day and a half, including the Detailed Wash and Paint Correction prep. We work panel by panel. No body removal, no rushed cuts.

Does my car get taken apart during PPF application?

No. All2Shine uses pre-cut patterns that slot into the natural panel gaps. The work is reversible and doesn't touch any factory seal or trim. Your car leaves the studio the way it arrived. Just protected.

Yes. Every protection job opens with our full Detailed Wash (hot-water touchless, engine bay, wheel wells, interior). You don't pay twice. It's built into the PPF or Ceramic Coating price.

If you care about how the car looks in 5 years, yes. PPF pays back in resale value, lower paint-correction costs, and the ability to drive the car without worrying about stone chips. For exotics and new cars in particular, it's the single best long-term protection investment.

How much does PPF cost in Portugal?

PPF pricing depends on coverage and tier. A KAVACA Ceramic Coated Full Front (bonnet, bumper and front panels) starts from €1,250 + VAT. A Full Car install on a saloon or SUV starts from €2,900 + VAT, depending on body lines and finish. Ceramic Coating on top is included. What's your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

We ask for 48 hours notice on bookings. The studio runs to tight slots, especially for multi-day PPF jobs where we hold the bay exclusively for your car.

Can I book just a wash without protection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Detailed Wash is a standalone service: full hot-water touchless wash, engine bay, wheel wells, door jambs, and interior. Two technicians, about 3 hours, from €100. It's the same wash that opens every PPF and Ceramic job. The highest standard we offer.

How often should I get a Detailed Wash?

Accepted Answer

Monthly for daily drivers, quarterly for garaged cars. Before a sale or trade-in if you want the car at its best. It adds visible value to inspections and shows.

What's the difference between a Detailed Wash and a normal car wash?

Accepted Answer

A normal car wash gets the dirt off the panels. A Detailed Wash gets the dirt out of the engine bay, wheel wells, vents, sills, interior carpets, and seat stitching. We work touchless under hot water with pH-neutral chemistry. No swirl risk, no residue.

What is Paint Correction?

A machine-polishing process that removes swirl marks, hologramming, oxidation, water spots, and light scratches from the clear coat. We assess paint under detailing lights, choose pad and compound combinations per panel, then polish in stages. The goal is restoring the original factory finish. Not hiding damage under wax.

Do I need Paint Correction before Ceramic Coating or PPF?

Almost always, yes. Both Ceramic and PPF lock in whatever paint state sits underneath. If we apply protection over swirls or oxidation, those defects stay visible for the lifetime of the install. Correction first, protection on top.

What is Ceramic Coating?

Accepted Answer

A liquid ceramic polymer that bonds chemically to the clear coat, leaving a hard, glossy, hydrophobic top layer. It doesn't replace paint. It shields it. Water beads off, dirt resists sticking, and the gloss reads deeper than factory finish.

How does KAVACA self-heal?

Minor scratches and swirl marks disappear at ambient temperature, in seconds. Most PPFs need warm water or direct sun to heal. KAVACA heals overnight in your garage. The top coat is an instant-recovery polymer that re-flows when disturbed.

KAVACA lasts up to 10 years. Anti-yellowing, anti-cracking, and backed by the full Ceramic Pro manufacturer warranty. Other PPFs typically yellow at 5 to 7 years. KAVACA's polymer chemistry holds clear well past the decade mark.

How does PPF protect against UV, oxidation, and chemicals?

The film blocks UV before it reaches the paint, which is what causes fade and oxidation on horizontal panels. Bonnets, roofs, door tops. The chemical-resistant top coat also stops bird droppings, tree sap, road salt, and bug residue from etching the clear coat. The damage hits the film and lifts off in a wash.

Can I wash the car normally after PPF?

Accepted Answer

Yes, after the first 7 days while the adhesive cures. Use a soft microfibre, pH-neutral shampoo, the two-bucket method. Avoid high-pressure jets within 1 metre of the film edges. Standard automatic car washes are fine, but hand washes preserve the finish longer.

Does PPF come off cleanly?

Yes. The film is fully removable and leaves no residue or paint damage. We routinely remove and re-apply PPF when clients sell, change finish, or refresh after 7–10 years. The paint underneath stays in original condition. That's a large part of what protects resale value.

When is the best time to apply PPF?

As soon as the paint is in perfect condition. Brand-new cars are ideal. Straight from delivery, before the first wash. For used cars, we run Paint Correction first to bring the paint back to factory state, then install PPF on top. The film locks in whatever paint state it sits over, so we start with paint at its best.

How is KAVACA different from XPEL, SunTek, or 3M PPF?

KAVACA is the only PPF with instant ambient-temperature self-healing. Others need heat. The top coat is harder, the gloss reads higher, and the warranty is the only one backed end-to-end by Ceramic Pro. Every other brand we considered before becoming exclusive applicators came up short on one or more of those.

Will PPF affect my insurance or factory warranty?

No. PPF sits on top of the factory clear coat and doesn't touch any structural panel or paint chemistry. Manufacturer warranties remain intact. Insurance treats PPF as an aftermarket protective layer. Declare it for value, no policy impact.

Do you apply PPF on watches?

Accepted Answer

Yes. PPF on the bezel, the rear case, and the clasp on some watches. Common for Rolex Submariner, Daytona, GMT-Master II, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, and similar high-value pieces. Protects against bezel rotation marks, case-back desk wear, and clasp scuffs without changing how the watch looks or feels on the wrist. Fully removable when you want to refresh.

Yes. PPF goes on kitchen countertops, splashbacks, and dining-area marble. Stops the staining from red wine, olive oil, and citrus, and the etching from acidic spills like vinegar or lemon. The film is optically clear. The marble keeps its veining and depth. Fully removable, no damage to the stone, ideal for protecting investment-grade Calacatta, Carrara, and Statuario installations.

What furniture can I PPF?

Anything subject to scratches, stains, or dirt. Dining tables, coffee tables, glass panels (internal and external), mirrors, designer chairs, sideboards, headboards, bar tops, piano lids, wardrobe doors, drawer fronts, stair treads, and outdoor furniture for UV protection. If it's a high-value or high-traffic surface, PPF extends its life and resale value.

What about other home surfaces?

Anywhere you'd hate to see scratched, stained, or worn. High-touch door handles and frames, lift interiors, glass shower screens, balcony rails, and high-traffic floor zones. Do you apply PPF on boats?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Work is done in dry dock at the marina. PPF goes on interior and exterior high-touch surface areas. Handrails, hatches, dashboards, cockpit panels. To prevent scratching and UV damage. We also do hull PPF, either on targeted high-impact zones (waterline, bow, rub strakes) or full hull coverage. The film protects the paintwork from chips, marine growth staining, and UV fade, and cuts long-term polish and respray costs significantly. We quote per project based on the boat's size, layout, and the area to cover.

What about jet skis?

Same approach, tighter coverage. Hull PPF on impact zones, deck and storage covers protected against UV, and the seat sides where boarding wear and damage occurs most. The film keeps the gelcoat fresh, resale value high, and reduces the seasonal maintenance bill. Especially if you keep the ski on a trailer or lift through the off-season.

How long does marine PPF last?

On boats and jet skis, KAVACA delivers 5 to 7 years in marine conditions. UV exposure and saltwater are harsher than road use. Annual inspection (included on local jobs) and a top-up where needed extends life and warranty validity.

Yes. Every PPF or Ceramic job includes a 2-week post-install visit. We come to you. Wherever you keep the car in the Lisbon area. And inspect the work, sort any unresolved bubbles or edge lifts, and walk you through aftercare. Included in the price.

What about long-term maintenance?

We offer an annual hydrophobic top-coat refresh. It re-activates the water-beading and self-cleaning properties of the Ceramic Coating, extends warranty validity, and keeps the finish performing at install-day level. Charged separately, takes about half a day.
